Islamic art historian and Byzantine frescoes in cave churches were surprisingly well preserved despite centuries of different religious uses. Documentation for research project was allowed with proper permissions. Three days provided time for detailed photography and note-taking impossible on rushed day tours.

Celebrating 25th wedding anniversary and three days allowed romantic pace without feeling rushed. Husband surprised me with private dinner arranged through hotel on final evening. Sunset from room terrace was magical backdrop for renewing vows informally between ourselves.
